Bringing Rocks to Life Through Stories
Over the past 5 years we have developed an inventory of rock images which we intend to turn into a children’s storybook series. The first story titled, ‘The Tales of Octavious and Bubbles Friendship’ was released in December 2023.
The Meaning Behind ‘Midden’
The name Midden Rock is deeply rooted in history. Middens are heaps of shells, bones, utensils, rocks, and artifacts that may have accumulated over thousands of years—essentially Aboriginal garbage dumps. These sites are proof that some Aboriginal Peoples were not entirely nomadic or seasonal but instead had settled, thriving communities. Through our storytelling, we aim to honor the past while creating new narratives for the future.
What’s Next?
As we continue to explore the art of balancing and storytelling, more books are in the works—each inspired by the fascinating forms and history of the rocks we collect. Stay tuned for more stories, more adventures, and more ways to experience the magic of Midden Rock.
